Professional Ant Treatment for Your Home

Ants are one of the most common pest problems homeowners deal with in Northern New Jersey. Once ants find food, water, or shelter inside your home, they can quickly become frustrating and difficult to control with store-bought sprays.

At Howey Pest Solutions, we do more than treat the ants you see. Our licensed technicians inspect your home, identify where ants are active, locate possible entry points, and apply targeted treatments designed to control the colony and help prevent future activity.

Signs You May Have an Ant Problem

🐜 Ants trailing along counters, floors, or baseboards
🍽️ Ants appearing near food, sinks, or pet bowls
🚪 Ants entering around doors, windows, or foundation gaps
🌧️ Increased activity after rain or warm weather
🏠 Ants showing up in kitchens, bathrooms, basements, or garages
🌳 Ant activity around patios, walkways, mulch beds, or landscaping

Common Ants in Northern New Jersey

Different ant species require different treatment strategies. That is why proper identification is important before treatment.

Common ants in our area may include pavement ants, odorous house ants, little black ants, acrobat ants, carpenter ants, and other nuisance ants.

Important: Carpenter ants are wood-damaging ants and may require a separate Carpenter Ant Defense service. If we identify carpenter ants during inspection, we will explain your options clearly before treatment.

Why Ants Invade Homes

Ants enter homes looking for food, water, and shelter. Even small crumbs, pet food, moisture, or tiny cracks around the exterior can attract ants.

Food crumbs or spills
Pet food and water bowls
Moisture around sinks, bathrooms, and basements
Cracks around windows, doors, and foundations
Mulch or landscaping touching the home
Tree branches or vegetation touching the structure

How to Help Prevent Ants

Clean up crumbs and spills quickly
Store food in sealed containers
Do not leave pet food out overnight
Repair leaks and reduce moisture
Seal cracks and gaps around the exterior
Keep mulch, branches, and vegetation away from siding

Year-Round Ant Protection

If ants return every year, a one-time treatment may not be the best long-term solution. Our Home Defense Service Plan includes year-round protection from covered insects and rodents, including many common ant problems.

The Home Defense Plan includes scheduled quarterly services, exterior foundation treatments, inspections, and complimentary service calls between quarterly visits for covered pest activity.

Ant Control FAQs

Why do I keep seeing ants in my house?

Ants usually enter homes looking for food, water, or shelter. If the colony is not treated properly, ants may continue returning.

Will store-bought sprays get rid of ants?

Store-bought sprays may kill the ants you see, but they often do not eliminate the colony. Some products can even cause ants to spread to new areas.

How long does ant treatment take to work?

Ant activity may increase for a few days after treatment as ants contact treated areas or bait. Most activity begins to decline within 7–14 days.

Do I need to leave my home during ant treatment?

In most cases, no. If any special instructions are needed, our technician will let you know before treatment.

Are carpenter ants included?

Carpenter ants are different from general nuisance ants and may require a separate Carpenter Ant Defense service.

Do you offer free ant inspections?

Yes. We offer free inspections and quotes for residential and commercial customers.
